Folders and items
- Tap a folder to open it. Type in Add an item and tap next; the keyboard stays up for the next one.
- Tap Choose from common items to tick things like peanuts, halal or an extra pillow without typing.
- Tap an item to edit it, or swipe left to delete it.
- The ••• menu in a folder has Rename category, Reorder items, Folder stickers and Delete category.
- Tap the + button at the bottom right of the home screen to add a folder: pick a suggestion, or name your own and choose any emoji.
The code doesn't open the App Clip
- The App Clip needs an iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later. Android phones and older iPhones can't open it; use Show or Send instead.
- Ask them to scan with the iPhone Camera app and tap the banner that appears.
- Turn your brightness up, hold the phone steady and avoid glare on the screen. The share sheet raises the brightness for you.
- If Doin Tella is installed on their iPhone, the code opens in their app instead of the App Clip.
My list doesn't fit in one code
A QR code has room for a typical list of about 40 items, more if they come from the common list. If yours is longer, the app fills it in order (allergies first, then health, then the rest) and tells you how many items didn't fit. It never drops anything without saying so.
On the Share screen, tap Use two codes: Health and Preferences, or use Show or Send, which have no size limit.
Sharing several folders
Tap the share button at the top of the home screen, or Settings > Share several categories. Pick who it's for (Hotel, Restaurant, Driver, Doctor or Custom) and switch folders on or off. The meter shows how full the QR code is. Your choices are remembered for each audience.
Show and Send
- Show fills your screen with your list in large text, to turn towards the person in front of you.
- Send shares it as text through AirDrop, Messages, WhatsApp or Mail. PDF makes a clean card to send or print.
Your name on the card
Add your name in Settings > Your card. It appears at the top of everything you share, as “Your name's preferences”. Leave it empty to stay anonymous.
Folder stickers
- Open a folder, tap •••, then Folder stickers.
- Tap the camera, take a photo and it becomes a stamp sticker.
- Drag to move, pinch to resize and twist to turn. Tap a sticker, then Delete Sticker to remove it.
- Tap Save. Up to three stickers per folder, shown on the home screen exactly where you put them.
If the camera doesn't open, allow it in Settings > Doin Tella > Camera.
Locking the app
Doin Tella has no lock of its own: iPhone already has one for every app. On iOS 18 or later, touch and hold the Doin Tella icon on the Home Screen, choose Require Face ID and confirm. From then on, iOS asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode whenever the app opens.
Theme and haptics
Choose System, Light or Dark in Settings > Appearance. The Haptics switch there turns every tap and buzz in the app on or off.
Your data and backups
Your list lives only on your iPhone; we have no copy (see the Privacy Policy). To keep it when you change phones, back up your iPhone with iCloud or a computer and restore the backup on the new one. To start over, use Settings > Erase all data.
